Maria Cristina Hall • Malaga
On the 14th of August it took place the closing ceremony of this first edition of the Advanced Courses of Music 2009 of the Fundación Unicaja.
Something magical was floating on the air that evening. On one hand, the satisfaction of a job well done; on the other, the end, the farewells, images that sped up through our hearts, new experiences, new friends, so many things learned. A dream come true.
Our aim with this course was to go beyond the academic limits by offering a space where plurality, quality and variety were the main actors of our project. A project that had but one critical purpose: to give a high-level education that could contribute to reinforce the studies and musical environments of musicians, as well as to disseminate the real pleasure of music.
Our objectives being clear, together with an incomparable, inspiring setting like the old Conservatory María Cristina –today María Cristina Concert Hall, and the backup of Fundación Unicaja made it actually very easy to take the first steps.
Thanks to the enormous effort made by everyone (organization, teachers and, of course, our most valuable treasure: the students), this course has been a place where emotions, sensations, different cultures and different people with different points of view coexisted in perfect harmony.
In there, students and masters of international renown have met to deepen in the instrumental praxis and the most complete interpretation through the classes and concerts that were held daily in the Festival that run parallel to the Course. An immense range of creative experiences that gave us the chance of enjoying very special moments of great intensity.
We hope this first edition constitutes the beginning of a long life right in the very heart of Málaga. Our challenge? To continue working to improve this enterprising project. For example, next course we will be pleased to have the participation of the University, a necessary link given the essence and level of our teaching staff and students. Only this way we will be able to create a cultural forum where we can express what music really is: one of the most beautiful representations of Art.
