A FULL CONCERTO chosen from among those deemed to be of greatest relevance and importance to the instrument concerned.
A WORK that may be a virtuoso piece or a complete advanced-level sonata.
Application Form
The soloist competition is open EXCLUSIVELY to students enrolled on either edition of the string or piano disciplines of the Music Proficiency Courses 2010 in Malaga.
Once accepted as an active course participants, contestants must download and complete the competition application form, stating TWO WORKS to be performed. The works nominated may not be changed after the application form has been sent.
Due to the number of applications received , preliminary heats will take place onTuesday July 27th for piano contestants, and Wednesday July 28th for strings contestants, starting at 15 h at the Courses Venue.
The winners of said heats will then progress to the final audition, that will take place on Thursday July 29th at 10 h.
TWO performances will be given, according to the following terms:
The pieces (concertos and works) must be played from memory except for sonatas with piano
Pieces having a piano part should be perfomed accompanied by a pianist. String contestants may be accompanied by the piano-playing teacher with whom they have worked during their particular course, or else be accompanied by a pianist of their own choice. In such cases, the organisers will not cover any expenses incurred. Contestants must provide the piano part for the performance.
The jury will determine the winner and two finalists, and will solve any unexpected occurrence during the competition. The decisions of the jury will not be open to appeal.

Once the application period has expired, the definitive jury line-up will be published on this web page.
Once their performance date is determined, contestants should provide TWO COPIES of the pieces to perform.
The competition winner will perform as a soloist with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert to be given between the 2010 and 2012 seasons.
The second and third-placed contestants will perform in a concert at the Maria Cristina Hall between the 2010 and 2012 seasons.
All prize winners will be awarded a diploma certifying that they have either won the competition or reached the final.
